Dental implants are the gold standard of care today for replacing missing or greatly diseased teeth. Dental implant treatment is predictably successful at the 98% rate, longer lasting than other options, and provides greater benefits. If you have a full denture or partial denture (removable bridge), or have lost or will soon lose a tooth, you will want to learn about what dental implant treatment would involve for your individual circumstances.

Dr. Lampert makes himself available for a complimentary dental implant consultation that is free of charge. This may be your first visit to inquire about dental implant therapy or a second-opinion visit after seeing another dentist or specialist. Dr. Lampert is an excellent choice because of his restorative expertise, close collaboration with preferred local implant surgeons, breadth of treatment experience, and knowledge of harmonious whole mouth rehabilitation.

Types of Dental Implant Treatment

Dental implants are fixtures resembling screws that are placed into the jawbone. They are biocompatible, and bone tissue grows around them through a process called “osseointegration”. Once implants have integrated into the bone tissue, prosthetic teeth can be attached to provide maximum stability and a beautiful, natural-appearing smile. There are three types of dental implant treatments available at Brookside Family Dental.

  1. Standard Implant for Crown or Bridge Retention — A single prosthetic tooth can be attached to a dental implant at the site of a missing tooth. Similarly, a multi-unit prosthesis (bridge), can be attached to one ore more implants to replace multiple adjacent teeth. A combination of single and multi-unit prosthetics can be placed on multiple implants when there are 2 or more gaps in the mouth.
  2. All-0n-4 or More Implants for Hybrid Overdenture Retention— This type of implant treatment is extremely advantageous for edentulous patients (with no teeth or very few teeth). A hybrid overdenture can be fixed on as few as 4 dental implants to provide full biting strength, natural appearance, comfort, and total elimination of denture slippage.
  3. Mini Implants for Denture Stabilization — A full removable denture can be stabilized on mini implants, which are smaller than standard implants.

The Benefits of Dental Implant Therapy

Dr. Lampert recommends dental implants for patients who are missing one or more teeth because they offer numerous advantages over traditional dentures.

  1. They are very versatile. Dental implants can replace a single tooth, a row of teeth, or an entire arch, depending on the attached restoration. Dental implant treatment does not require healthy tooth structure to be removed for crowns, and it does not put healthy tooth structure at risk of damage when removable bridges are removed and reinserted.
  2. Dental implants do not shift within the mouth. Implant-supported restorations are firmly rooted in place by their titanium posts fused to the jawbone, so they do not move as you eat, speak, smile and laugh.
  3. They last longer than traditional restorations. Dental implants can last for 20 years or even an entire lifetime with proper care.
  4. They stimulate the jawbone to prevent bone loss so your face and gum tissue retain their shape.
  5. They restore full or nearly full biting strength so you can bite and chew all of your favorite foods.
  6. You will floss and brush your prosthetic teeth like healthy original teeth.
  7. Many patients say dental implant supported prosthetic teeth appear so life-like, and feel and function so much like natural teeth, that they forget they are replacement teeth.
