The first step is to schedule a complimentary (no fee) smile makeover consultation.

Dr. Lampert will tour your mouth with you and inform you about the changes that can be made for optimal aesthetics. As a good listener, he will take time to make sure he understands your personal goals.

Because of the many new materials, technologies and techniques available today, Dr. Lampert may suggest alternative ways to help you achieve your new smile. He will provide you with full information and guidance for making treatment choices. He will answer questions. He will allow you time to consider your options. You will not be pressured, as he assists you in making your own confident decisions.

When planning the procedures for you makeover, Dr. Lampert will be concerned with the resulting function and comfort. He may “test” crown and bridge restorations made of acrylic in your mouth and make modifications before your final restorations are created in expensive porcelain or gold.

Teeth whitening using custom fitted whitening trays is a common step in a smile makeover prior to selecting the color shade of your dental restorations. This way, the restorations will match your preferred shade of whiteness. You will be able to maintain your whiter shade and remove most staining with your custom trays and take-home whitening gel.

Procedures that May be Part of Your Smile Restoration

Teeth whitening — With in-office whitening or custom-fitted whitening trays and whitening gel that we supply you, you will be able to achieve a level of whiteness that takes years off of you smile. You can use your custom trays, with the gel we supply for home touch up as needed. Stains that cannot be removed by whitening can be covered over with dental bonding or porcelain veneers.

Dental bonding — Dental bonding is the application of high-grade composite material to the front of your teeth. This is a more affordable though less enduring alternative for porcelain veneers for covering stains that cannot be bleached.

Porcelain veneers — Porcelain veneers can be used to cover chips, stained or discolored teeth, close gaps and even fix mildly crooked teeth. With today’s products, Dr. Lampert has to remove only a very small layer of tooth enamel on the front of each tooth that will receive a veneer. Veneer treatment is relatively fast. Exquisite results can be achieved in two appointments.

Composite fillings —Although gold fillings are often recommended for restoration of molars due to greater durability, fillings that will show when you smile are done with tooth-color composite that is shade matched with your natural tooth structure.

Porcelain onlays and inlays — Gold inlays and onlays may be recommended for restoration of molars, but inlays and onlays that will show when you smile are created from porcelain that matches the shade of the surrounding tooth structure. Because porcelain onlays and inlays are more durable than composite fillings but less invasive than a crown, they are used for large cavities or very decayed teeth.

Porcelain crowns — When tooth damage is extensive the most appropriate restoration is often a crown that encases the entire tooth above its roots. Dr. Lampert excels in using custom-shaded porcelain crowns made to match the surrounding teeth. When a tooth is no longer savable, a dental implant provides a stable, safe and comfortable support for a crown.

Root canals — Prior to placing a porcelain crown, a root canal procedure may be required to clear infection from the tooth’s roots. Dr. Lampert performs root canal therapy in his own office and is expert in this procedure for all teeth. Although many patients fear this treatment will be painful, you will be gently and fully numbed should you need it.

Tooth extraction — If a tooth is so damaged or infected that it cannot be restored, extraction will eliminate pain and enable Dr. Lampert to restore your smile with a dental bridge or implant.

Dental bridges — A dental bridge is a prosthetic appliance used to fill the space where a tooth has fallen out or been removed. Dr. Lampert can suspend a false tooth between two anchoring crowns that go over the teeth on either side of the gap — or, he can place a crown on top of a dental implant, leaving the teeth on either side of the gap unaffected.

Dentures — A denture is a removable prosthetic for missing teeth that covers the surrounding gum tissue. Complete (full) dentures are used when all the teeth are missing. Partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. Today, we are able to stabilize full dentures on mini-implants and fix prosthetic teeth of any number on dental implants. Full biting strength and confidence can be restored. If you have missing teeth, Dr. Lampert will explain your options and the advantages of each.

Dental implants —A dental implant is a tooth root replacement inserted in the jawbone. A prosthetic crown or bridge may be attached to an implant to provide strong function and natural appearance. A few small implants can be placed in the jawbone to retain and stabilize a full over-denture. As few as 4 implants can be placed to permanently retain a hybrid overdenture. Dental implants are the most effective and durable method for replacing missing teeth. The cost of a single implant may equal that of a bridge restoration but dental bridges typically last about only five to fifteen years before needing replacement or further treatment. Removable dentures require refitting and have so many downsides that most patients now want implant-retained dentures. With All-on-4 implant treatment, patients without any teeth can have lifelike hybrid overdentures that never slip and allow them to eat all of their favorite foods. Dr. Lampert will tell you about additional benefits of implants, your options, and the considerations that are important in making your treatment choice.

Gum recontouring — The contour of the gum line can be reshaped to create a more symmetrical and naturally esthetic appearance.

Crown lengthening — Excess gum tissue, and if needed bone, can be removed to reveal more length of teeth. This procedure is used to correct a “gummy” smile.
