Our Doctors

Edward D. Kosakoski D.M.D. Endodontist

Dr. Kosakoski grew up in Miami, FL, as the first born of six children. He attended the University of South Carolina on a Navy ROTC Scholarship and graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 1973. He was immediately commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and received his first choice of orders - Underwater Demolition/SEAL training at the Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado, CA. Dr. Kosakoski served as a Naval Special Warfare officer/SEAL from 1975 to 1982 with tours of duty at Underwater Demolition Team Twelve, SEAL Team One, the Naval Amphibious School, Coronado, as a Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL instructor, and the Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, N.C. Dr. Kosakoski resigned his regular commission as a naval officer in August 1982 and entered the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville, FL. He graduated with his DMD in 1986 and rejoined the Navy as a Dental Corps officer. He completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, IL, in the Chicago area in 1987, and an Endodontic Residency at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD, in 1997. While a member of the Naval Dental Corps, Dr. Kosakoski served tours of duty at Camp Pendleton, CA, the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, the Naval Training Center in Orlando, a one year assignment to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf, the Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, IL, and the National Naval Dental Center in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Kosakoski retired from the Navy in 1999 and developed a very successful endodontic practice in San Diego. He relocated to his home state of Florida in 2012 and practiced in Stuart and Port St. Lucie before joining Smile Design. Dr. Kosakoski enjoys all things outdoors and on the water, especially fishing, sailing, scuba diving, winter ski trips, and top down "road tripping" wherever the road may lead. He follows most sports but especially the Florida Gators! He has a love for music, especially "live music", and is an avid concert attendee.

Jose F. Matos D.D.S.

Dr. Jose F Matos received his bachelor degree from the University of South Florida in 1987. He then continued his education and in 1991 received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the VCU/MCV Dental School in Richmond, Virginia. He is a member of several dental organizations that share his enthusiasm for high quality dentistry: the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, West Coast District Dental Association, and Upper Pinellas County Dental Association.

Dr. Jose F Matos loves working with people from every walk of life, and helping them attain and maintain a beautiful smile. His patients’ health, happiness and comfort is how he measures success. He takes time to listen to patients’ concerns, educate them, and work with them on establishing a treatment plan that achieves their goals. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.

In his free time, Dr. Matos enjoys: Baseball, Football, Hockey, antique cars, nature walks with his dogs Toby & Coco, also loves old westerns. Most of all, he loves spending time with his family wife, Mary, and his children, Alex, Rebeca.
