Our Doctors
Dr. Greg Goran Stoici was born in Timisoara, Romania in 1977. His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1983 due to the hardships of communism. His family lived for a time in Chicago, IL, then Ann Arbor, MI, and finally Pittsburgh, PA, where he completed high school. Most of his summers he traveled to Romania where he spent a lot of time with family that stayed in Romania.
He finished dental School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his D.M.D. After practicing dentistry in Philadelphia for a few years and the birth of his first son, he visited Sarasota and St. Petersburg and fell in love with the tropical environment. He and his family moved to St. Petersburg in 2009 and fell in love with the Old Northeast part of the city, where they purchased a home in 2010.
“In 2013 our second son was born, and we love living here. We go to to the beach on Sunday afternoons to play in the sand and water, and watch the sunset. We love going to the parks, riding our bikes downtown for an ice cream cone, or strolling through through the city. The amazing thing is that my brothers and parents live in the city not far from us. Looking back through the years, I would have never guessed I would be living here doing what I love doing, which is helping people in the ways only a dentist can. I am truly thankful.” — Dr. Stoici

An endodontic specialist is a dentist who has an additional two or more years of specialized training beyond dental school and specializes in saving teeth through a variety of procedures that involve the pulp and roots of teeth. A common endodontic procedure is root canal therapy to remove diseased tissue and bacteria from the root canals of teeth that have been compromised by infection or trauma. Cracked teeth, decayed teeth, and teeth that have been traumatized by a blow, often require root canal therapy before the tooth can be restored. The average endodontist completes 25 root canal treatments per week, compared to general dentists, who do about two root canals a week. Caring for tooth nerves and roots is microscopic work and can be complicated. When it comes to preserving your teeth and eliminating dental pain, Smile Design Dentistry is proud to offer the services of a specialist.
