Dental Implant Treatment and Maintenance

As your comprehensive dentist, Dr. Sachdev will evaluate your oral health circumstances, develop an understanding of your oral health goals, and collaborate with you in developing a comprehensive plan to affordably achieve optimal oral comfort, health, function, and aesthetic appearance. If you are missing teeth, one of your options is likely to be dental implant therapy.

Dr. Manu Sachdev works in an interdisciplinary way with specialists who are experts in dental implant placement and the related surgical procedures you might need to develop bone tissue prior to implant placement and restoration. Dr. Sachdev and your referred specialist will plan your treatment together, communicate fully, and both educate you about your needs and recommended treatment. They will answer your questions and help you make decisions regarding your treatment.

Once dental implants have been placed, osseointegration has successfully occurred, and your surgical specialist has cleared you for implant restoration, Dr. Sachdev will place your custom-fitted and designed implant prosthesis (crown, bridge, or denture). He will make sure the fit, function, comfort, and aesthetics are ideal. He will provide you with home hygiene instructions and do follow-up evaluations to make sure everything is going well.

As a patient who has had dental implants, you will continue to come in for regular professional teeth cleaning and periodontal tissue evaluation. You will continue to have regular oral health exams. When dental implant treatment is expertly achieved and you care for your mouth properly at home and via recommended dental visits, your implants can last the rest of your life.

If a circumstance were to occur, wherein an oral health problem compromises bone tissue around an implant, the occlusal function or aesthetics can be improved as other changes occur in your mouth, or the prosthetic crown, bridge or denture on your implant(s) becomes damaged, Dr. Sachdev will respond promptly to treat the problem and achieve quality results.

If you would like to replace one or more missing teeth, restore your own eating function, and regain confidence in your smile, please give us a call. We’ll schedule your special time with Dr. Sachdev to discuss the advantages and costs of various options, including dental implant treatment.

The Many Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants can support and retain crowns, bridges (partial dentures), and complete dentures. Some implant dentures snap on and off of implant attachments and are removable by the patient for cleaning and sleeping. Implant crowns, bridges, and hybrid dentures are fixed on implants so they stay permanently in place.
Implant restorations offer many advantages over traditional crown and bridge treatment and removable dentures.

  • Easier, more comfortable eating, talking, and smiling
  • A more attractive, natural looking smile with artificial teeth that do not move during use
  • Improved jawbone health, since the stimulation of the dental implants prevents bone deterioration
  • Better durability than traditional restorations
  • No need to crown adjacent healthy teeth to hold a bridge or to modify adjacent teeth with removable bridge attachments
  • No need to use messy adhesives (denture creams) to hold a denture in place

Quality-of-life benefits include improved oral health, the ability to enjoy all of your favorite foods, better nutrition (therefore improved systemic health), increased social confidence, less fuss and muss for optimal oral hygiene, and lowered risk of needing retreatment in years down the road.
