What to Expect During Your First Visit

Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with safe, gentle, highest-quality dental care. We understand that you or your child may feel anxious about visiting the dentist. We are sensitive to your needs, and it is our goal to make you feel comfortable.

The first visit will be for a comprehensive new patient exam. Typically, we will schedule you for a second visit to have your teeth professionally cleaned.

During your first visit, we will review your dental and medical history forms, and take digital X-rays. Dr. Tran will take time to get to know you and talk with you about your oral health concerns. Together, you and he will look at your X-rays and “take a tour of your mouth.” As he examines your teeth, gum tissue and other soft tissue, he will show you any areas of health and functional concern. During this collaborative exam, it is an ideal time to discuss aesthetic issues that have bothered you. Dr. Tran will answer questions you may have.

If you have an emergency or urgent dental need, for example, a tooth is acutely painful, Dr. Train will do what he can in this initial appointment to make you comfortable and address the problem. When you schedule your first appointment with us, tell us about your primary concerns so you are scheduled appropriately, and there is time in the schedule to address any urgent problem.

We will schedule new patients for their first hygiene appointment on a later day. One of our registered dental hygienists will clean and polish your teeth, as well as make a detailed record of the health of the gum tissue around each tooth. If the hygienist sees signs of tooth decay or gum disease, she will inform Dr. Tran while you are in the office.

Dr. Toan Tran takes a comprehensive approach to solving complex oral health issues.

If you have multiple problems to be solved, a comprehensive “master” treatment plan is warranted. In this case, Dr. Tran will ask his assistant to make dental impressions and take digital photos of your smile and also the inside your mouth with our intra-oral digital camera. Dr. Tran will then sit down with you at a subsequent appointment to review what he thinks is the best course of treatment. Before this subsequent appointment, he will study your oral health record, models, and photos; and he will spend focused time on a treatment plan that addresses the causes of the problems and will predictably provide lasting results.

When you meet he will provide you with details about your treatment options and phases of treatment. Before accepting treatment, you will be fully informed about how the proposed treatment plan will meet your oral health goals, the advantages of taking the proposed steps, why Dr. Tran recommends this treatment, the estimated fees, and your payment options.

We care about your long-term satisfaction. And, the joy patients express after achieving restored health and appearance means the world to us.

Dr. Tran is honest, forthright, and caring. He does not pressure patients to accept treatment and understands that you may need some time to think about your options before proceeding with a plan that you and he have put together. Partnering with you is what we are all about.

We believe our patients deserve the best of individualized care. This comprehensive approach to treatment planning and our focus on your long-term satisfaction, may be unlike dentistry you have ever experienced before.
