True Def Scanner

October 1, 2015

Knoxville, Tenn. — Dentist Stephen Malone D.M.D. of Knoxville, Tennessee (www.knoxvilledientistry.com) has been appointed by 3M Corporation to their international faculty for instructing dentists and specialists in the use of 3M’s True Def Scanner. He is one of eight faculty members and profiled on www.truedefdoctors.com.

Dr. Malone’s dental office was the first one in east Tennessee to make use of the scanner. Using a small video camera on a wand, users of this technology can scan the inside of a patient’s mouth, accurately recording the patient’s intra-oral anatomy in three dimensions. This technology replaces the traditional practice of making impressions of the mouth and casting models. The 3D imaging is faster, better and easier for both patients and clinicians.

With the 3M™ True Definition Scanner, Dr. Malone and other dentists can provide patients with an improved diagnostic and treatment experience. The enhanced accuracy and precision of the 3D digital image provides an exceptionally detailed view and can improve communication between the dentist and dental lab technician. The improved efficiency reduces the time the patient is in the dental chair. The improved accuracy ensures dental restorations have the best fit and appearance for the patient.
Dr. Stephen Malone received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville in 1994 and has practiced dentistry in Knoxville for nearly 20 years. He believes in the value of continuing education and has pursued hands-on and mentored advanced dental education every year since earning his doctorate. He participates in multiple dental study clubs and professional organizations, where he has taken a leadership role.
